PUBLICATION ETHICS


Global Elementary Education (GEE) is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher throughout the publication process. All parties involved in the publication process are expected to uphold the principles of honesty, transparency, objectivity, confidentiality, and accountability.

Duties of Editors

Editors are responsible for evaluating submitted manuscripts fairly and objectively based on their academic quality, originality, relevance, and contribution to the scope of Global Elementary Education. Editorial decisions shall not be influenced by the authors' gender, nationality, institutional affiliation, religion, political views, or other personal characteristics.

Editors must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and must not disclose information regarding a manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, and other editorial members involved in the publication process.

Editors must also avoid conflicts of interest and take appropriate action when ethical concerns, complaints, or allegations of research misconduct arise.

Duties of Reviewers

Peer reviewers assist the editors in making editorial decisions and help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts. Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive, professional, and timely evaluations.

Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not use unpublished information contained in a manuscript for personal advantage or disclose it to other parties.

Reviewers should inform the editor if they identify a potential conflict of interest or feel unable to provide an impartial review.

Duties of Authors

Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts represent original scholarly work and accurately report the research conducted. Fabrication, falsification, inappropriate manipulation of data, plagiarism, and other forms of research misconduct are unacceptable.

Authors must properly acknowledge and cite all sources that have influenced their work. Manuscripts must not be submitted simultaneously to more than one journal and must not have been previously published elsewhere.

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, implementation, analysis, or preparation of the manuscript. All listed authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission.

Plagiarism and Originality

All manuscripts submitted to Global Elementary Education are subject to similarity checking using plagiarism-detection software such as Turnitin.

Plagiarism in any form, including the inappropriate use of another person's words, ideas, data, or work without proper acknowledgment, is considered a serious violation of publication ethics. Manuscripts found to contain unacceptable levels of plagiarism may be rejected.

Multiple, Redundant, or Simultaneous Publication

Authors must not submit substantially the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Previously published work should not be submitted as an original publication.

Any use of the authors' previously published material must be appropriately cited and must comply with applicable copyright and publication policies.

Research Ethics

Research involving human participants, including students, teachers, parents, or other educational stakeholders, must comply with applicable ethical standards.

Authors should clearly describe relevant ethical procedures in the manuscript when applicable, including informed consent, participant confidentiality, voluntary participation, and ethical approval from an appropriate institution or ethics committee.

Special attention should be given to research involving children and other vulnerable participants to ensure their rights, privacy, safety, and well-being are protected.

Conflicts of Interest

Authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that could potentially influence the research, review process, or editorial decision.

Authors should clearly state any relevant conflicts of interest in their manuscript. If no conflict exists, authors may state: “The authors declare no conflict of interest.”

Data Integrity and Research Misconduct

Authors are responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the data presented in their manuscripts. Fabrication, falsification, manipulation, or intentional misrepresentation of research data is prohibited.

If research misconduct is suspected before or after publication, Global Elementary Education may conduct an investigation and take appropriate editorial action.

Corrections, Retractions, and Complaints

When significant errors or ethical violations are identified after publication, the journal may issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction as appropriate.

Authors are expected to cooperate with the Editorial Board when errors or ethical concerns regarding their published work are identified.

Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence

The use of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools must be transparent and responsible. AI tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility or accountability for published work.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and appropriate citation of all content included in their manuscripts. Any substantial use of GenAI in manuscript preparation or research should be disclosed appropriately in accordance with the journal's Policy on the Use of Generative AI.

Ethical Oversight

The Editorial Board of Global Elementary Education is responsible for addressing allegations of publication misconduct fairly and appropriately. Ethical concerns may include plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, inappropriate authorship, conflicts of interest, duplicate publication, unethical research practices, or other violations of academic integrity.
